The United States government has announced that significant progress has been made in establishing a military base in Poland. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, described these advancements as a "historic step" in the relations between Washington and Warsaw.
Details of the Base Establishment
Trump noted in a post on his social media account, Truth Social, that "thanks to the courageous leadership of my friend, Karol Nawrocki, the President of Poland, major progress has been made in establishing a U.S. Army base in Poland." He also mentioned that the location of the base will be announced soon and introduced this action as a historic step for the great alliance between the United States and Poland.

Currently, the United States has approximately 10,000 rotational forces stationed in Poland and has 11 military bases in the country, with the U.S. Army headquarters located in Poznań. Earlier this year, the Trump administration threatened to withdraw its forces from Poland but quickly reversed that decision, announcing that an additional 5,000 troops would be deployed to Poland.
Reactions to the Progress
Peter Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, described Poland as a "model ally" and emphasized the importance of military cooperation between the two countries. These developments come as the U.S. State Department announced last September that $4 billion in military aid would be provided to Poland.
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Polish Minister of Defense, also expressed appreciation for Trump's efforts to "establish a permanent U.S. base in Poland" on Thursday, stating, "Good cooperation between presidents also brings positive results. This is an important affirmation of our strategic partnership."
These developments could have significant implications for the security of the region and the relations between the United States and European countries, especially in responding to security challenges arising from increased Russian military activities near NATO borders.
