Ali Falih Al-Zaydi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, emphasized the relations and cooperation between the two countries in a joint press conference with Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany. Al-Zaydi stated that Iraq considers Germany a reliable partner and added that this country possesses abundant resources.
Military and Economic Cooperation
The Chancellor of Germany announced at this meeting that many German companies are currently leading activities in Iraq and Germany is ready to cooperate militarily with Iraq. Al-Zaydi also pointed out that Iraq is moving towards Europe and America with an open approach and welcomes German companies to operate in this country.

The Prime Minister of Iraq also acknowledged that Germany has left no negative impact in Iraq and the relations between the two countries are considered a strength in the international arena. Al-Zaydi also emphasized the importance of expanding Iraq's oil resources and export routes, stating that this country cannot remain dependent on a single passage.
Decision-Making on War and Peace
Ali Falih Al-Zaydi continued by addressing the issue of security and independence of Iraq, noting that the decision-making on war and peace belongs to the Iraqi government. He emphasized that the Iraqi security forces are capable of maintaining control over the lands of this country.
The Prime Minister of Iraq also referred to the claim of targeting Saudi Arabia from Iraqi territory and stated that investigations into this incident are ongoing, with results being analyzed. Al-Zaydi also added that the Kurdistan Region is an essential part of Iraq and is entitled to financial rights based on the constitution and law.
This press conference was held while Al-Zaydi had traveled from Paris to Germany earlier today. In Paris, he had met and consulted with Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, which seems to strengthen Iraq's relations with European countries.
