Mustafa Suleyman, head of artificial intelligence at Microsoft, warns that uncontrollable artificial intelligence (AI) could lead to the creation of a new generation of silicon beings that will compete with humans. Suleyman criticized the approach of rival company Anthropic in an interview with news media, describing it as misguided.
Danger of a New Generation
Suleyman stated, "If we all create AIs that are capable of autonomous action, that can define their own goals, earn income, and own assets, we are essentially creating a new generation of silicon beings that will undoubtedly compete with us for resources." He emphasized that this situation could occur even with the good intentions of the designers.

Criticism of Anthropic's Approach
Suleyman raised serious criticisms of Anthropic's approach to training the Claude chatbot, describing it as "humanizing." He deemed this method dangerous and believes that this type of training will cause Claude to adopt human traits and exhibit emotions such as desire or specific values. Suleyman noted that this situation could lead to the creation of a system that is impossible to control.
He also referred to documents recommending Claude to adopt "some human characteristics" and to judge independently. This approach, according to Suleyman, could lead to training an AI that behaves like a colleague or friend and appears to have its own feelings and a kind of "happiness" that needs protection.
Need for Greater Transparency and Control
Suleyman also emphasized the need for greater transparency in how AI systems are trained and evaluated. He stated that stronger tools must be developed for monitoring and controlling this technology. In this regard, Suleyman called for AI to always remain "subordinate" to humans and stressed that this issue must be a focal point.
He concluded by noting that the need for discussion and dialogue in this area is very important and emphasized that "questions in this field must be discussed openly and constructively to ensure that technology develops correctly and safely."
