New research indicates that cycling holidays in Europe have gained significant attention. Searches for "cycling holidays" on Google have increased by 292%. This statistic reflects the growing interest of people in cycling trips and experiencing nature from a different perspective.
Scientific Research Behind the Beauty of the Routes
A new study conducted by an adventure booking platform used eye-tracking software to analyze the reactions of 200 participants to 52 famous and attractive cycling routes around the world. This technology measured the attention-grabbing speed of each route and the duration of attention, calculating a weighted "attention score" out of 100. According to Luke Jadd, a travel expert at this platform, "Seeing a country from the saddle of a bike is a unique experience; you move fast enough to reach different points while having enough time to enjoy the beauty."

Beautiful Cycling Routes in Europe
In this ranking, beautiful European routes are at the top. Out of the top 15 routes, 8 are located in Europe. For example, the Gravel route in Tuscany, Italy, ranks third with a score of 91. This route is known for its one-day professional races in the spring and is surrounded by cypress trees, active gardens, and historic towns on the hills.
In fourth place, the Elbe cycling route in Germany, with a score of 90, stretches about 1,220 kilometers from the Czech Republic to the North Sea. This route passes through several German states and takes travelers through the history and natural landscapes of eastern and northern Germany.
The cycling route in Amsterdam ranks sixth with a score of 86. This circular route allows travelers to familiarize themselves with the beauty of the city and its surroundings, from canals and parks to historic neighborhoods.
Finally, the last European entry in this ranking is the Lake Ohrid circuit, which ranks fourteenth with a score of 76. This route is 90 to 96 kilometers long and lies between North Macedonia and Albania.
