The President of Romania, Nicolae Ciucă, expressing concern over the situation of the war in Ukraine, announced that this war may continue for at least another one to two years. According to him, despite the increasing economic pressure on Russia and Ukraine's ability to strike deep into Russian territory, Moscow shows no signs of willingness to negotiate.
Security Concerns in Europe
Given Romania's border with Ukraine, the country is in a sensitive position, and Nicolae Ciucă emphasized that we must be prepared for the continuation of this war. He also called for the maintenance of American forces in Europe, a request made in light of ongoing U.S. reviews of its military presence on the European continent. This is particularly important as security threats in the region are on the rise.

EU Defense Assistance
Nicolae Ciucă also confirmed that Romania has received the first tranche of the €2.5 billion budget from the European Union. These decisions are being made as the Ukraine crisis continuously impacts the security and stability of the region.
The President of Romania also highlighted the importance of European solidarity in facing security challenges and emphasized that European countries must cooperate to defend the stability of the continent and their common interests. Given that the war in Ukraine has turned into a widespread humanitarian crisis, this issue affects not only Ukraine but all neighboring countries and even beyond.
Ultimately, Nicolae Ciucă, referring to the economic challenges posed by the war in Ukraine, called for greater support from the international community and stated that only through cooperation and solidarity can a positive outcome be achieved in this crisis. He also reminded European countries to pay attention to the humanitarian situation of Ukrainian refugees and provide the necessary support.
