Ed Sheeran, the English pop singer, is facing a serious crisis on his US tour. All of his supporters have withdrawn from the tour due to the removal of Macklemore, the American rapper, from the lineup because of his statements in support of Palestine.
Ed Sheeran's Comments on Macklemore's Removal
This action came after Ed Sheeran provided explanations on social media regarding Macklemore's removal, attributing the decision to the tour organizers, Messina Group. Sheeran wrote on Instagram: "Macklemore's removal was the organizers' decision, not mine. I never want to disappoint my fans who have planned to attend, and I also cannot abandon the tour team and other supporters and artists who depend on me."

He also expressed that he has great respect for Macklemore and his will to stand up for what he believes in. Sheeran added: "However, it should be noted that there are different approaches to achieving peace. I have chosen to use my fame and platform as a safe space and refuge and to try to maintain diplomacy and keep dialogues open."
Reactions from Supporting Artists
However, these statements did not calm his supporters. Irish artists Aaron Rowe and Bioga, Danish band Lukas Graham, and Finneas, Billie Eilish's brother, each announced their withdrawal from the tour and expressed their feelings on Instagram. Finneas stated: "Artists should not remain silent when speaking for the oppressed. I have decided to withdraw from the upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people."
Rowe and Bioga also referenced their country's history, saying: "We are the people of Ireland who understand colonialism. As founding members of the Irish Artists for Palestine movement, we are committed activists for justice and will continue to be." Rowe also referred to Sheeran as his friend and said he has brought positive changes to his life.
These developments have put a lot of pressure on Ed Sheeran as he tries to avoid entering politics and taking a stance on the Gaza conflict, believing that his fans do not come to his concerts to hear politics.
