Langdock, founded in 2023 in Berlin, has transferred its parent company structure from the United States to Germany. This decision was made in the midst of increasing discussions on how to develop AI infrastructure in Europe, retain tech companies, and reduce dependence on U.S. cloud and AI providers.
Company restructuring and its benefits
Langdock has eliminated its previous structure in the United States and established a new structure under European laws, transitioning to a Societas Europaea (SE) structure in Germany. This change, which began in early 2026 and incurred several million euros in costs, has now been fully implemented.
The company, which currently provides services to about 13,000 organizations, has given its employees access to several AI models and allows companies to connect workplace data and applications, automating tasks. Langdock stated that establishing a registered parent company in the United States was initially a crucial step to attract investors and benefit from the U.S. startup accelerator network, such as Y Combinator.
Legal and security challenges
However, Langdock's operations and customer data remained in Germany. The previous structure allowed the company's clients' lawyers to assess whether the U.S. parent company posed legal or privacy risks, while Langdock emphasized that it had no employees, infrastructure, or access to its production systems.
U.S. laws, including the Cloud Act, have raised concerns in the market that U.S. authorities might access customer data. By eliminating the U.S. parent company, Langdock's European structure has become clearer for customers, and according to the company, this change is particularly significant during uncertain geopolitical times.
Langdock has also announced that 80 percent of its shares are held by founders and employees residing in the European Union, and this new structure will not affect its plans to serve customers globally.
Despite rapid growth, Langdock still has a long way to go in competing with U.S. tech giants. The company's annual revenue reached $50 million (€42 million) in August 2025, while Amazon Web Services' revenue for the same year hit $128.7 billion (€108 billion).
