In today's world, restaurants have turned to using AI-generated images in their menus, which has significantly raised concerns and dissatisfaction among customers. For example, in a local Jamaican restaurant, images of dishes were displayed that looked more like snake skin and leather belts than appetizing food. These images not only lack appeal but were so unbearable that a social media user decided to share them with their 26,000 followers.
Digital Food or Real Nightmare?
Jill Senet, a 37-year-old nurse from Denver, sparked a wave of reactions by sharing these images on social media. Over 500 people reshared the images and expressed their disgust at seeing them. Senet said, “Eating is a fundamental human experience. I think this is a bad cultural shift for restaurants to turn to these horrifying and unbearable images.”
It seems that this trend is pushing restaurants towards a new type of marketing that is based more on visual appeal rather than the actual quality of the food. However, customers seeking delicious and enjoyable meals are severely discouraged by these images.
The Future of Food Menus
With the increasing use of AI in various industries, the question arises whether real food will still have a place in the market. Should restaurants move towards using real and more appealing images or continue with this new trend? These changes not only harm the customer experience but could also damage the cultural identity of food.
Ultimately, it seems that AI is fundamentally changing our food culture, and the question remains whether we are ready to adapt to these changes or not?!
