Global Poisoning: Every Year ۴۰۰ Million Farmers Fall Victim to Pesticides

A newly published study has revealed that approximately ۴۰۰ million farmers worldwide are poisoned each year due to the use of pesticides. This alarming statistic indicates a serious crisis in the agricultural industry that not only affects the health of farmers but could also have dire consequences for global food security.

Increasing Pesticide Use and Its Dangers

Despite repeated warnings about the dangers of pesticide use, global consumption of these substances continues to rise alarmingly. Many farmers turn to these chemicals due to economic pressures and the need to increase production. However, the side effects of these substances can lead to serious health issues.

Public health and agricultural specialists believe that many farmers are unaware of the side effects of pesticides, and as a result, they inadvertently expose themselves to serious risks. From respiratory and skin problems to long-term effects such as cancer, all are among the consequences of the excessive use of these chemicals.

Global Challenges and the Need for Change

While some countries have implemented programs to reduce pesticide use and replace them with natural and sustainable methods, these efforts have not yet been sufficiently widespread and effective. Numerous challenges, including lack of access to necessary training and financial resources, hinder fundamental changes in this area.

Ultimately, this study clearly shows that the crisis of farmer poisoning requires immediate attention and serious action. Although food security is a global priority, this security cannot be built on the health of farmers. In this regard, the global community must work to raise awareness and reduce pesticide use.
